AT&T, Retraining, and the Workforce of Tomorrow. After reading the case, please discuss the following questions:

  1. To what extent does AT&T’s Workforce 2020 program align with the mission and value of the company and AT&T’s vision of talent management practices?
  2. Which type of learning does AT&T’s Workforce 2020 program foster? Does it foster lower-level or higher-level learning, individual or group learning? Please explain.
  3. How can this re-training program be tweaked to motivate employees with different backgrounds (e.g., senior vs. junior, full-time vs. part-time, union workers vs. non-union workers)?
  4. How can you apply some of the ideas from this case to re-train employees at your own workplaces?  The group describes the two best ideas in the report.
